BLUFFDALE/SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman will be waking up Monday morning in Salt Lake County Jail after she was arrested around 1 a.m. for wrong-way driving on Redwood Road.

A Salt Lake City Police officer was heading home around 1 a.m. when he observed a vehicle driving very slowly — “about 2 miles per hour” — on the wrong side of Redwood Road, SLCPD Lt. Gary Trost told Gephardt Daily.

The officer followed the vehicle and finally got it to pull over near Porter Rockwell Boulevard in Bluffdale.

Officer Carl Hamer, with the Bluffdale City Police Department, said the SLCPD officer called Utah County Dispatch, and Bluffdale officers went out to take custody of the driver.

Hamer said the woman, who is from Salt Lake County, is in her mid-30s and was “extremely intoxicated.”

The incident is still under investigation, and the woman was being interviewed by officials an hour after her arrest.

Hamer said she will be transported to Salt Lake County Jail, where she will likely be booked on charges of driving under the influence, driving on the wrong side of the street, and having open containers in the vehicle.
