WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, March 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police have a woman in custody and are looking for several other suspects after a short pursuit involving a stolen vehicle Wednesday night.

WVCPD Sgt. Levi Lloyd told Gephardt Daily that an officer located the vehicle, listed as stolen, driving on Redwood Road at 3100 South at approximately 9:45 p.m.

“He attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, and a very, very short pursuit ensued, which our officer eventually terminated,” Lloyd said.

Officers lost the car, then located it again in the area of 4100 South and 1300 West. The vehicle continued north on Redwood Road from 4100 South. The driver then continued westbound on 3800 South and officers used a spike strip to stop the vehicle at 3800 South and 2750 West.

“The spike strip was successful in popping one of the tires,” Lloyd said. “Several of the occupants fled. We were able to find one of them, an adult woman, and take her into custody.”

It’s unclear at this time exactly how many people were in the vehicle.

The chase concluded on the border of Taylorsville and West Valley City, so the Unified Police Department sent multiple units as well as a K-9 unit to search for the suspects that ran on foot.

Lloyd said some drug paraphernalia was found in the car.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
