WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Yellow Lake Fire, southeast of Wasatch County’s Yellow Lake Reservoir, is still estimated at 1,500 acres and 0% contained as of Monday morning, Utah Fire Info has reported.
“The area received a light amount of precipitation last night, but remained active overnight in the heavy timber,” the update says. “Many resources arrived yesterday and have been briefed and inserted today. Starting last night, there will be 24 hour operations on scene until further notice.”
Highway 35 remains closed to through traffic “for both public and firefighter safety. The U.S. Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is also working on an area closure as well. The closure area boundaries are Mill Hollow on the west side, Soapstone Basin area north of Highway 35, Wolf Creek Campground on the east, and Duchesne Ridge on the south.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The agency again stated that people who observe smoke in that immediate area are asked not to report it.
