According to Utah Film Commission sources, the “Yellowstone” production has spent an estimated $28 million in Utah, and helps employ more than 300 cast and crew members during production.
The drama series stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, patriarch of a ranching family that must battle others to control the land their ranch is on. Nearby are an Indian reservation, America’s first national park (for which the series is named), and multiple major business interests.
“Yellowstone” has been a ratings hit for the Paramount Network, averaging a 0.4 rating for adults ages 18 to 29, and 2.4 million viewers per episode after five episodes, according to Nielsen Live + Same Day ratings.
“Yellowstone” is the highest-rated drama cable series after AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”
