June 14 (UPI) — Police seized $1 million worth of methamphetamine formed into lollipops at a Houston home, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators said they believe the sale of the lollipops, some bearing images of Batman and Star Wars characters, was aimed at children.
Police responded to a burglary call on Tuesday at a Houston home and found two people removing about 600 pounds of the homemade candy-drug mixture from the home.
“They had so many narcotics in their vehicle they couldn’t close the back hatch of their car,” commented Lt. Ruben Diaz. He said that the lollipops could sell for $20 to $40 each, adding “It hits home and affects the entire community when someone is targeting children like this.”
Evonne Mick and David Salinas were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. The site of the home was not revealed.
“The house was the place they manufactured the drug. It was evident they were making these in the kitchen,” said Sgt. Cedrick Collier.
