2 dead in crash of experimental plane in California

VENTURA COUNTY, California, March 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A small airplane crashed near Santa Paula, California, killing both men on board, according to a tweet posted by Sgt. Eric Buschow, public information officer for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred Saturday afternoon. There were no injuries on the ground.

The Ventura County Fire Department and Ventura County Medical Examiner were at the scene, and a National Transportation Safety Board representative was enroute, according to the tweet.

The Ventura County Star reported that the crash happened at about 2:15 p.m. (Pacific Time).

“An identification number attached to the plane indicated it was registered out of Palmdale, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA listed it as a fixed-wing, single-engine, experimental aircraft known as an RV6A from Van’s Aircraft Inc. kit,” according to the Star.
