PAMPLONA , Spain, July 8 (UPI) — Three Americans were among the seven people gored by bulls Friday during Spain’s San Fermin festival in Pamplona.

After a somewhat calm first running on Thursday, the second running saw a more“chaotic” scene, with bulls charging after runners moments after the event began. The run lasted nearly six minutes, about double the usual time.

Among the Americans injured were a 23-year-old, who was gored in the left leg; a 46-year old, who was injured in the groin; and a 46-year-old who was gored in the left armpit. A Spaniard and a man from South Africa were in serious condition.

Event organizers said the run was “crazy” and the most dangerous since 2007. Five people were injured on the first day of the nine-day event, but none were gored.
