CHILPANCINGO, Mexico, Jan. 17 (UPI) — At least six decapitated bodies were found inside a car in Chilpancingo, the capital of Mexico’s Guerrero state. Their heads were in black bags on the roof.
Proceso reported police were called Monday after people in the Progreso neighborhood reported an abandoned car on the street. The heads were found inside black bags on the roof of the red Ford EcoSport, while the bodies were found inside.
Guerrero state government spokesman Roberto Álvarez Heredia said a preliminary investigation suggests the killings were a result of organized crime — possibly drug gangs fighting for control of territory.
Four other people were shot dead in separate incidents in Guerrero on Monday.
