IDAHO – October 13, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A plane headed for Boise Airport had to make an emergency landing on Interstate 84 Tuesday morning.

According to Idaho State Police, about 7:02 a.m., a 1970 single engine Cessna aircraft experiencing power failure was forced to make a belly landing in the middle of the freeway after the landing gear would not engage.

The pilot, Jon M. Brinkerhoff, 30, of Westminster, Colorado, was not injured in the crash.

After Brinkerhoff was able to stop, a man who was driving eastbound clipped the left wing of the aircraft but failed to stop at the scene.

Police said the driver,  Dao D. Nguyen, 65, of Boise, Idaho, called them later to report his crash and told officers he did not sustain any injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Idaho State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
