Feb. 18 (UPI) — At least 19 people were killed and about 20 other people were injured after a bus overturned on its way from Argentina to Chile.
Chilean bus company Turbus shared a statement on its Facebook page stating the crash likely occurred on Route 7 near Los Horcones in the province of Mendoza.
Turbus said there was not sufficient evidence to determine what caused the bus to overturn.
Survivors of the crash told local media the bus had been traveling at high speeds prior to the rollover.
The bus was carrying a total of 40 people, 32 of whom were Argentinian, including three minors. There were also 4 Chileans one Colombian and a Haitian.
Two bus drivers who were also on the vehicle when it overturned were detained while an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
