LONDON, Sept. 15 (UPI) — Britain’s BAE Systems is to continue providing support integration of ground-based air support system for F-35 fighters.

The support comes through a two-year $7.4 million contract extension from the Ministry of Defense.

BAE Systems said its work primarily focuses on integration of the Autonomic Logistics Information System, or ALIS, a web-enabled IT system that integrates capabilities such as operations, maintenance, prognostics, supply chain, customer support services, training and technical data on a single, secure network.

The single F-35 fleet management system was developed by the aircraft manufacturer, Lockheed Martin.

“The extension of the contract to continue the UK integration of ALIS is fantastic news and represents a further strengthening of the very successful relationship between BAE Systems and the UK MOD,” said Adam Morgan, head of Software and Services for BAE Systems Defense unit.

BAE Systems in Britain manufacturers the F-35 aft fuselage, vertical and horizontal tails, and CV wing tips. In the United States, the company provides the F-35 with active inceptors, vehicle management computer and the electronic warfare suite and other equipment.
