Feb. 1 (UPI) — Britain’s House of Commons will discuss a petition calling on the government to prevent U.S. President Donald Trump from entering the country for a state visit.

The Parliament debate is scheduled to be held Feb. 20. The “Prevent Donald Trump from making a State Visit to the United Kingdom” petition says that while Trump should be allowed to enter Britain in his capacity as U.S. president, he should not be invited to make an official state visit “because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.”

“Donald Trump’s well-documented misogyny and vulgarity disqualifies him from being received by Her Majesty the Queen or the Prince of Wales,” the petition says. “Therefore during the term of his presidency Donald Trump should not be invited to the United Kingdom for an official state visit.”

On the same petition page, which has received more than 1.7 million signatures, the government said Parliament would debate the topic.

The government, on the same day, will also discuss the “Donald Trump should make a State Visit to the United Kingdom” counter petition, which has received more than 145,000 signatures. It calls on Trump to be allowed to make an official state visit because Trump is “the leader of a free world and U.K. is a country that supports free speech and does not believe that people that appose our point of view should be gagged.”
