Nov. 10 (UPI) — A driver with psychological problems rammed into a group of college students in a suburb of Toulouse in southwestern France, injuring three Friday, police said.
Toulouse prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau said the man told police he “deliberately” hit the group in Blagnac around 4 p.m. with a Renault Clio vehicle, BFM TV reported. The man, who was born in 1989, was arrested immediately.
The interior ministry said in a statement the suspect has a history of mental problems and the incident doesn’t appear to be terrorism related.
He told police that he “heard voices” telling him “to hurt someone,” Ladepeche newspaper reported.
The person was not on a security watch list and had minor offenses, mostly drug-related, police said.
The injured students were taken to a hospital in Toulouse. One woman, 23, was in serious condition. Also injured were a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.
Saint Exupery School includes postgraduate courses in commerce, computer science, communication, journalism, communication and real estate.
In July 2016, a Tunisian man plowed a truck into a crowd in the southern city of Nice, killing 86 people.
