ATLANTIC, Iowa, Jan. 19 (UPI) — Dr. Ben Carson is cancelling his campaign events for the day after three volunteers and a staffer with his campaign were involved in a car accident.
Braden Joplin, a 25-year-old volunteer for Carson, was transported to the trauma center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. ABC News reported the other three were at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Carson’s campaign said they were not injured.
Carson had two events left to attend in South Carolina Tuesday, both closed to the press.
Carson traveled to Omaha to be with Joplin and his family. “I am asking for you to join me in prayer for all the individuals and families involved,” Carson said in a statement posted to Facebook.
