CANON CITY, Colo., May 29 (UPI) — The conductor of a Colorado tourist train fell to her death Saturday night as the train was nearing the station.

Fremont County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death involving the Royal Gorge Railroad Scenic Train, KKTV 11 reported.

Investigators said Leslie Cacy, 28, was the conductor of the train. She fell out of the train around 5:30 p.m. and died.

The Fremont County coroner said Cacy was from the Canon City area. An autopsy is being performed.

There were between 100 and 150 passengers on the train at the time of the incident. Passengers weren’t allowed off the train until about 9 p.m.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

Investigators say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in this incident.

Canon City is about 45 miles from Colorado Springs. It has had scenic trains on the route for 17 years, CNN reported. The train was on its way back from a scene trip and just four miles away from the station when the conductor fell off.

The railroad has suspended service for the next several days while the investigation continues.

In a statement, the Royal Gorge Railroad said:

“We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our team member who died yesterday in an accident on the train. We have been working around the clock with authorities to figure out exactly what happened. Right now, our focus is on helping the Fremont County Sheriff’s office do its job, and taking care of our team. We will not be running the train for the next few days, and anyone with reservations will be refunded or may reschedule. We are a family run business, and our team members are like family to us. Our hearts are broken. We will share more information as soon as we have it.”
