D.C. police: Driver tried to run over cops near Capitol

March 29 (UPI) — The Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., said a driver was arrested after trying to run over police officers Wednesday near the U.S. Capitol.

The incident occurred outside the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory and the Rayburn House Office Building, WUSA 9 reported. Police sealed off the road near the garden.

Police said a driver struck a Capitol Police cruiser and then tried to run over several other officers who were on foot, ABC 11 reported.

Capitol Police fired shots but no one was struck. The FBI was at the scene.
