Screensaver: U.S. Capitol Police/Twitter

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 2, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The U.S. Capitol Building is on lockdown after two U.S. Capitol police officers were injured when “rammed by a car” Friday afternoon.

According to a tweet by U.S. Capitol P.D., “USCP is responding to North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been taken to the hospital.”

USCP later corrected the tweet to say the incident had occurred on Constitution Avenue.

Security and medical personnel have responded to the North Barricade where a blue passenger vehicle appears to have slammed into a traffic barrier.

People inside the Capitol and adjacent office buildings are being kept indoors while police and other details secure Capitol Hill.
