SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., July 2 (UPI) — Five homes were burned and four people, including three firefighters, were injured in a fast-moving brush fire in southern California, officials said.
The blaze began in a patch of brush near a residential area off Kendall Drive, the Lost Angeles Times reported. It quickly spread to nearby homes, destroying four structures and heavily damaging a fifth.
Residents in the path of the fire were evacuated.
In all the fire consumed at least 8 acres and firefighters said it was about 50 percent contained around 4:30 p.m. local time. More than 120 firefighters were called to the scene, the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.
NBC Los Angeles reported the firefighters all suffered minor injuries and the resident was being treated for smoke inhalation.
