LAKE MARY, Fla., May 11 (UPI) — George Zimmerman, the Florida man acquitted in the 2013 shooting death of teen Trayvon Martin, was injured Monday in a shooting incident, police said.

Lake Mary, Fla., Police Chief Steve Bracknell told WESH-TV in Orlando that Zimmerman sustained a minor gunshot injury during a confrontation with another driver on Lake Mary Boulevard.

WJAX-TV in Jacksonville, Fla., reported he was shot in the face.

“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” witness Ricardo Berrare told WESH.

There appeared to be a bullet hole in the passenger window of the vehicle Zimmerman was in.

In 2013, a jury found Zimmerman not guilty in the shooting death of unarmed 17-year-old Martin.
