KATY, Texas, May 4 (UPI) — Two people are reported dead and several injured after a gunman opened fire Wednesday morning inside a trucking company in southeastern Texas.

The shooting happened at Knight Transportation in the 20400 block of Franz Road in the Houston suburb of Katy.

The shooter is “down,” Harris County Constable Office Deputy Zerick Guinn told NBC News.

Emergency crews were called just before 9 a.m after a man armed with a shotgun entered a building at the company, which is close to the Franz Elementary School and the Morton Ranch High School, both of which were on lockdown.

Knight Transportation has around 4,000 tractor-trailers and employs some 5,000 people.
