Sept. 27 (UPI) — Masked men broke into a drug rehabilitation center in the northern Mexico’s Chihuahua city and opened fire, killing more than a dozen people, prosecutors said.

The Chihuahua prosecutor’s office said an unknown number of gunmen used large-caliber weapons in the attack Tuesday just before 10 p.m. at Familias Unidas center. Witnesses said the gunmen wore military-style clothing.

Mexico’s El Universal reported the death toll was 16, though that number could increase because six others were seriously injured. Fourteen people died at the facility and another two people died at a hospital.

City, state and federal police were searching for the shooters and set up checkpoints, though no arrests have been made.
