WAXAHACHIE, Texas, Sept. 21 (UPI) — At least three people were injured early Monday after a house exploded in the town of Waxahachie, Texas, due to a suspected gas leak.

The explosion was reported at about 8 a.m. Two people were airlifted to Dallas hospitals from the scene in undisclosed conditions. A third person was transported by ground.

Initial reports indicate the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.

The explosion significantly damaged nearby homes, according to former UPl photographer Scott Dorsett. Atmos Energy Corporation representatives arrived to the scene to survey the gas situation and set up a perimeter around Arabian Road, where the explosion occurred.
