Indiana plane crash kills single occupant

Dec. 14 (UPI) — A single-engine plane crashed in northwest Indiana on Thursday, killing one person, aviation officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Piper Comanche crashed around 10:45 a.m. as it departed Porter County Regional Airport near Valparaiso, Ind.

The pilot, who died, was the only occupant of the plane. The pilot’s name was not released.

Porter County Sheriff’s Department said the FAA was investigating the cause of the crash.
