WASHINGTON, July 2 (UPI) — Law-enforcement officials gave the all-clear late Thursday morning after reports of a gunshot at the Washington Navy Yard prompted a massive police response.

Police said no threats were found, no shots were fired and no one was injured after the Washington Navy Yard was put on lockdown and a shelter-in-place order was put in effect Thursday about 7:40 a.m. A 911 caller reported the shooting and multiple law-enforcement agencies, including the FBI, local police and the U.S. Park Police, swarmed the Navy Yard. The Navy confirmed the lockdown, but not the nature of the emergency.

During the incident, several witnesses told CNN they did not hear any shots fired but were ordered to evacuate building and to stay out of the cafeteria.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Scott Williams told CNN the scene was a “mirror image” of the 2013 shooting scene.

“It’s almost identical and it brings back a lot of painful memories,” he said.

In 2013, a lone gunman killed 12 people and injured three others at the Navy Yard. He was fatally shot by a Washington police officer.

Law enforcement officials are on heightened alert with the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend and reports of possible planned terror attacks.
