Mississippi Escaped Inmates: Two Captured, Two at Large
RAYMOND, Miss., July 14 (UPI) — Two prison escapees have been captured and two remain at large after breaking out of Mississippi’s Hinds County Detention Center in the city of Raymond.Jermaine Wilson, 19, Kevin Holmes, 18, Montreal Damon Anderson, 25, and John Rollins, 23, escaped from the jail at about 1 a.m. on Monday.
All four men will face escape charges.
“It appears that they have had some help from the inside and outside,” Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis said. “We’re not able to tell that information at this time, but that’s what it appears to be.”
Residents were not happy that authorities did not inform them about the prison escape in a timely manner.
“I’d like for the county to notify me and the rest of the residents because we don’t know and most of us are staying alone,” Ethel Singleton, 60, who lives less than two miles away from the jail, told WDAM. “So we should know when an inmate escapes so we’ll know how to protect ourselves.”
