Aug. 8 (UPI) — North Korea‘s consultative council for national reconciliation warned South Korea against supporting the adoption of economic sanctions at the United Nations Security Council.

The United States is responsible for influencing the decision at the Security Council to adopt Resolution 2371, the North Korean council said Monday.

The council also used a derogatory term for women to address South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa, Seoul’s first woman foreign minister, and accused the veteran diplomat of “taunting” Pyongyang with her lips.

Seoul’s continued cooperation with Washington could mean the loss of opportunities for direct negotiations, the group added.

“The puppet authorities that have been jabbering thoughtless words will pay with the most devastating and harsh punishment,” the council said, according to Pyongyang’s state-controlled news agency KCNA.

“The United Nations Security Council Resolution 2371 was created under forceful U.S. demand, and violates the right of self-determination, right to existence. It is an atrocity that can never be tolerated.”

The group also defended the Kim Jong Un regime’s development of nuclear weapons, calling the policy a “fair and square” decision.

“We made it clear the launch of the recent intercontinental ballistic rocket was intended to send a warning to the United States,” the council said. “We also gave the South Korean authorities a chance to realize that following in the footsteps of the conservative regime would mean it would lose everything.”

North Korea has previously used misogynistic slurs to describe former South Korean President Park Geun-hye, the country’s first woman leader.

Pyongyang’s consultative council was formed to expressly deal with South Korea, according to South Korean news service Newsis.
