SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 11 (UPI) — President Barack Obama on Saturday offered three pieces of advice to potential 2020 presidential candidate Kanye West, starting with “be cool.”

“You may have heard about this. Kanye is thinking about running for Speaker of the House,” Obama said jokingly at a Democratic fundraising event in San Francisco, referring to the current turmoil Republicans are facing attempting to elect a new speaker.

“It couldn’t get any stranger. But in case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS thing, or as he calls it ‘Peezy,’ I do have advice for him. Some stuff I picked up on the way,” Obama said at the event.

“First of all you got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show,” Obama said. “So you got to be cool with that.”

“Second… saying you have a ‘Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ — that’s what’s known as ‘off-message’ in politics,” Obama added. “You can’t say something like that. There are a lot of people who have lost their congressional seats saying things like that. You don’t do that.”

“Number three, do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be President of the United States? That is crazy!” Obama concluded in his advice.

Although West’s reaction over Obama’s advice has yet been reported, the famed American rapper has previously been reluctant to accept guidance:
