Ohio Pastor Shot Dead During Church Service, Possibly By Brother

DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 28 (UPI) — A Dayton, Ohio pastor was shot and killed Sunday, possibly by his own brother, as he walked toward the pulpit of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church.

Witnesses told WHIO the shooting occurred during Sunday services as the choir was singing. While police have not provided an official statement, those same witnesses said law officers took the pastor’s brother in to custody.

Witnesses told WDTN there were more than 20 people inside the church at the time. The investigation is still in its early stages and there is little information is known at this time.

WDTN reported the pastor was walking toward the pulpit. His brother, seated in a pew, followed him, after which several shots were fired and the congregation began to flee.

The shooting was reported about 12:30 p.m., the New York Daily News reported..

Various reports from around Dayton said crime scene tape is up, blocking the public from reaching the church property on Nancy Avenue.
