SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 30 (UPI) — U.S. Marshals have caught one of two men who escaped from a California jail on Nov. 24.

A manhunt has been ongoing for Laron Campbell, 26, and Rogelio Chavez, 33. Two other escapees from the jail were captured immediately. The four escaped from the Santa Clara County Jail by sawing through bars on a second-floor window, then climbing down bed sheets tied together and used as a rope.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office confirmed Tuesday that Campbell was arrested without incident by U.S. Marshals in nearby Contra Costa County. Sources told NBC News that he would be booked into Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail, and then will be returned to Santa Clara County Jail.

The search for Chavez continues. Police confirmed that an unidentified alleged accomplice, accused of transporting Chavez after his escape, was arrested.

Campbell and Chavez were jailed in August on charges including burglary, extortion, false imprisonment, resisting arrest and firearms violations. A $20,000 reward for their capture, after the Nov. 24 breakout, was offered.
