Powerful Blast Rocks China’s Fourth-Largest City, Tianjin

TIANJIN, China, Aug. 12 (UPI) — A massive explosion rocked the Chinese city of Tianjin late Thursday.

Amateur video footage of the explosion showed a large-scale explosion about 11:30 p.m. lighting up a dark sky far on the horizon from where the footage was taken.

The video of the explosion has quickly spread through Chinese social media, including Weibo.

Twitter user @freewill89 said a “powerful blast” rocked Tianjin’s Binhai New Area, that faces a coastal area and the Yellow Sea that separates China from the Korean peninsula.
