LONDON, Dec. 25 (UPI) — Buckingham Palace announced Queen Elizabeth II will miss church this Christmas because she is recovering from a ‘heavy cold.’
“Her Majesty The Queen will not attend Church at Sandringham this morning. The Queen continues to recover from a heavy cold and will stay indoors to assist with her recovery. Her Majesty will participate in the Royal Family Christmas celebrations during the day.”
This is the first time in 30 years the 90-year-old monarch has missed the Christmas day church service at Sandringham.
The Queen and Prince Philip came down with colds earlier this week. They canceled plans Wednesday to travel to their Sandringham House in Norfolk.
Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children George and Charlotte attended church in Bucklebury, Berkshire, which is the home of the Middleton family.
