MONTREAL, July 29 (UPI) — A British Airways plane bound for London from Las Vegas was diverted to Montreal Wednesday morning because of a reported bomb threat.

Flight BA274, with 312 passengers and 16 crew members aboard, landed safely at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

Local police searched the plane and passengers were told that “nothing was found.” Ewen Sommerville, whose parents were aboard the plane, sent this message out on social media: “They (parents) were told [us] it was [a] suspect device and they were diverted to Montreal, landed, evacuated, then plane was searched. Been told it’s all calm.”

Montreal Police say they were advised of an emergency aboard the plane before the pilot sought permission to divert the flight and land in Montreal. The nature of the emergency was not specified.

A British Airways spokeswoman says passengers have been offered hotel rooms in Montreal and bookings on other flights to London.

No injuries have been reported.
