LOS ANGELES, Nov. 11 (UPI) — Ryan Phillippe says he gets mistaken for his teenage daughter’s brother.

The 42-year-old actor revealed as much on Wednesday’s episode of “The Late Late Show with James Corden” after Corden remarked on Phillippe’s youthful looks.

“One thing that I know my daughter gets embarrassed sometimes by [is] the fact that I do look so young and I get mistaken for her brother at times, which repulses her,” he said. “It absolutely repulses her that anyone could mistake me for being her brother.”

Phillippe shares 17-year-old daughter Ava and 13-year-old son Deacon with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, and is also dad to 5-year-old daughter Kai with ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp. He was 24 when Ava was born in 1999.

“My mom had a daycare center in our house [growing up], so when I would get up to get ready for school there would already be 10 children that were not part of our family in the house,” the star told Corden.

“It made me ready to be a young father because I grew up raising kids,” he said. “I grew up working in the daycare — I would teach the kids to swim, I would do magic shows for them.”

Phillippe and Witherspoon, who co-starred in the 1999 movie “Cruel Intentions,” split in 2006 after seven years of marriage. The actor told HuffPost Live in 2014 that he and Witherspoon have since “gotten to a really great place” as friends.

“It’s going well, and she’s happy and remarried [to Jim Toth], and our kids are incredible,” he said. “I’m proud of the way we’ve handled it and who our little people are.”

Phillippe will play Bob Lee Swagger on the new USA Network series “Shooter,” which premieres Nov. 15. The drama is based on the Stephen Hunter novel “Point of Impact” and co-stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Omar Epps.
