SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — When people hear the words “Utah” and “March madness” their thoughts might naturally turn to basketball, especially this year.
But there’s another form of March madness that’s about to take hold, and it has 10s of thousands of self-professed pop culture geeks waiting on pins and needles.
It’s called the FanXperience 2016 — offspring of the now legendary Salt Lake Comic Con Festival.
Since its inception in 2014, the three-day convention — which is once again being held at the Salt Palace — has become a mecca for lovers of geek and pop culture.
Their annual pilgrimages have brought hundreds of thousands of fans to Salt Lake City and put millions of dollars into local coffers. By all indications, including advance ticket sales, the geeks are set to do it again.
Dan Farr, co-founder of Salt Lake Comic Con and FanXperience, says the festival’s goal is to provide a premium, once-in-a-life-time experience for pop culture fans. He says the convention’s success three years running is proof FanX is doing just that.
In a one-on-one interview with Bill Gephardt, Farr talked about the FanXperience and the character-rich attractions that give it such a pointed appeal.
