School shooting reported at Florida high school

PARKLAND, Fla., Feb. 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Parkland, Florida, are responding to reports of an active shooter at a local high school Wednesday afternoon.

The Broward Sherriff’s Office said on Twitter it is “working a developing incident” at Stoneman Douglas High School.

“There are reports of victims,” the tweet added, warning that the shooter was still at large and urging people to avoid the area.

Broward County Fire Rescue is reporting that 20 people are injured, according to CNN affiliate WSVN.

The shooter is still at large, the sheriff’s office tweeted.

Helicopter video showed armed police at the building’s perimeter.

Broward Schools tweeted: “Today, close to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s dismissal, students and staff heard what sounded like gunfire. The school immediately went on lockdown but is now dismissing students. We are receiving reports of possible multiple injuries. Law enforcement is on site.”
