Sept. 1 (UPI) — President Trump signed a proclamation to make Sunday a “National Day of Prayer” in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
The President went on to commend the rescue workers and the families who are dealing with the consequences of the storm from Texas to Louisiana. Trump said everyone involved has the same goal: to help people facing devastating losses.
Trump plans to return to Texas on Saturday to assess more of the flood damage and later plans to visit Louisiana.
“I urge Texans of all faiths and religious traditions and backgrounds to offer prayers on that day for the safety of our first responders, public safety officers, and military personnel, healing of individuals, rebuilding of communities and the restoration of the entire region struck by this disaster,” Abbott said.
