BOSTON, July 15 (UPI) — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued 113 people from a party boat that ran aground off the coast of Cape Cod on Tuesday night.

The Pied Piper ferry grounded about 11 p.m. with 106 passengers and seven crew members aboard in the Woods Hole, Cape Cod area. No one was injured, but passengers said the situation became untenable when crew members began yelling for everyone to be quiet.

“Communication was horrible. They didn’t say a word,” said passenger Rob Maxwell, adding they were told to be quiet, but weren’t told why.

The Coast Guard used two 45-foot rescue boats to take passengers off the stranded vessel.

“Our top priority was the immediate safety and accountability of all passengers and crew aboard the Pied Piper,” said Capt. John Kondratowicz, commander of Sector Southeastern New England. “The exceptional response by our boat crews and the Falmouth Police department led to a quick and successful rescue.”

It is unclear why the boat hit land, but it was moved hours later when the tide came in.
