Nov. 3 (UPI & Gephardt Daily) — Two victims died and five others sustained injuries Friday when a gunman opened fire at a Tallahassee yoga studio before killing himself, local police said.

Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said the shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. at Hot Yoga. Emergency workers transported the victims to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare hospital. Police initially said that one person had died in the hospital, but it was later reported that a second person also died at the hospital.

Police said the suspected gunman appeared to have turned the gun on himself.

DeLeo emphasized that there was no threat to the community. He said the shooting appears to have been carried out by one person.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum was at a campaign rally in Miami for his gubernatorial bid at the time of the shooting.

“I’m deeply appreciative of law enforcement’s quick response to the shooting at the yoga facility in Tallahassee today. No act of gun violence is acceptable. I’m in close communication with law enforcement officials and will be returning to Tallahassee tonight,” he said on Twitter.
