WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 7, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Donald Trump was caught on video in 2005 making lewd remarks about women, when he thought his microphone was off.
Now the Republican presidential nominee, Trump made the comments 11 years ago while preparing for an interview with Billy Bush, then a host on “Access Hollywood,” now a host on NBC’s “Today” show. Bush and Trump were on a bus, and were preparing to do an interview about Trump’s cameo on a soap opera.
The Washington Post obtained the video, and broke the story on Friday.
Trump talked about groping women, kissing them, and trying to have sex with them, bragging, “… when you’re a star, they let you do it,” according to a video obtained by The Washington Post.
“Grab them by the p***y,” Trump is heard saying. “You can do anything.”
Trump discussed a woman who he tried and failed to seduce.
“I moved on her, and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump can be heard saying. The video was recorded several months after he married his third wife, Melania.
“I did try and f*** her. She was married,” Trump said, of the unnamed woman. “And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’”
“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump said. “Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”
At that point in the audio, Trump and Bush apparently notice Arianne Zucker, the actress who is waiting to escort them into a soap-opera set.
“Your girl’s hot as s***, in the purple,” Bush said.
“Whoa!” Trump said. “Whoa!”
An “Access Hollywood” spokesman declined to comment to The Washington Post.
Trump released a statement:
“This was locker-room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — not even close,” Trump said in a statement. “I apologize if anyone was offended.”
Hillary Clinton, Democratic nominee for the presidency, went to Twitter to post a statement:
“This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president.” Her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.), campaigning in Las Vegas, told reporters, “It makes me sick to my stomach,” the Post reported.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund issued a statement from Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens:
“What Trump described in these tapes amounts to sexual assault.”
Fellow Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) has said she will vote for Trump.
One of Trump’s most prominent social-conservative supporters, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, told BuzzFeed’s Rosie Gray: “My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values.”
Trump has tried to make a campaign issue out of former Pres. Bill Clinton’s past infidelity, placing blame on Hillary Clinton, calling her an “enabler.”
“Hillary Clinton was married to the single greatest abuser of women in the history of politics,” Trump told the New York Times for a recent article. “Hillary was an enabler, and she attacked the women who Bill Clinton mistreated afterward. I think it’s a serious problem for them, and it’s something that I’m considering talking about more in the near future.”
