Lieutenant Britt Smith with Pleasant Grove Police said a neighbor called police after allegedly hearing gunshots and seeing a rifle. The suspect allegedly threatened suicide and police harm. It is believed the suspect is a 35-year-old Caucasian male named Kevin Morris, who is the son of the owner of the home. According to Facebook, Morris went to Pleasant Grove High School and is currently self-employed, having previously worked for CR England, Global Transportation.

Lieutenant Smith said SWAT attempted numerous times to establish contact, which were unsuccessful. They forced entry, and were able to deploy less lethal pepper spray and were able to negotiate. The suspect surrendered. He allegedly broke glass and injured himself. The suspect was allegedly arrested for drug charges last night. He allegedly lives at the home with his parents, and his mom owns Smart Start pre-school in the building.

Neighbor Alison said Morris is a good guy who was down on his luck. “He’s super-sweet, he’d do anything for you,” she said. “I wanted to reiterate, don’t shoot him, but the police department did an awesome job, they were so cautious, so well-informed.”

There could be criminal charges of discharging a firearm within city limits.
