TAMPA, Fla., March 5 (UPI) — A dog was shot three times and tied to a railroad track but survived, and Tampa, Fla., police are seeking information about the incident.

Police officers responded to three separate calls Wednesday afternoon regarding gunfire heard in Tampa’s Sulphur Springs area. They found a bleeding mixed-breed dog, about one to two years old, tied to railroad tracks with a belt and with gunshots to the neck and shoulder.

The dog, a female, was taken to the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Center, where it was determined she would survive but will require amputation of a front leg. She was reported Thursday in stable condition and “doing great,” veterinarian Jamie Davison said.
