TOKYO, Aug. 10 (UPI) — A Japanese company unveiled the WalkCar, a portable transportation device designed to fit into a backpack when not being used.
Cocoa Motors posted a series of videos to its official YouTube account showing off the WalkCar, a 6.6-pound electric device with a top speed of about 6 mph.
The demonstration video shows how the user steers the WalkCar by leaning in the direction they want the device to travel and can stop the device by simply stepping down to the ground.
The device can support a weight of about 265 pounds and a video shared by Cocoa Motors shows how it can be used to push a cart bearing even more weight.
A video posted by the company Sunday shows the latest “minimum sized” prototype WalkCar.
The company said customers will be able to preorder WalkCars in a Kickstarter campaign scheduled to launch in October.
