Man on Most Wanted List Arrested for First Degree Murder, Abuse of a Corpse

US Marshall BadgeTENNESSEE, March 24, 2015 – U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson announces the arrest of Kellum Williams. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) wanted Williams for first degree murder, abuse of a corpse and violation of community Corrections in Clarksville, TN.

On Feb. 1, a human body was found burning in a field in Robertson County, TN. The body was later identified as Amy LeeAnn Murphy, a 31-year old mother of three. After an investigation, the TBI had reason to believe that five people were responsible for the death of Murphy.

On March 9, a special grand jury returned indictments against the five. And four of the five suspects were captured, except Williams. Williams was added to the Top 10 Most Wanted list.

The TBI requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) fugitive task force within the federal Middle District of Tennessee. It was then The US Marshall’s investigators contacted their counterparts in the federal Eastern District of Virginia with a lead on Williams’ whereabouts.

At around 2:30 p.m. EST, the USMS fugitive task force located and arrested Williams. The U.S. Marshals Service arrested more than 36,000 federal fugitives, 86,700 state and local fugitives, and 11,800 sex offenders last year.
