ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 6 (UPI) — Harris Corporation is to supply the U.S. Marine Corpswith Falcon III radios for enhanced and extended voice and data communications.

The contract is worth $36 million, the company said, but no details as to the number of AN/PRC-117G multi-band networking units to be supplied or their delivery schedule was provided.

The AN/PRC-117G, a lightweight manpack system, can be used at squad level on up to field command. They provide high-bandwidth communications for streaming video, simultaneous voice and data feeds.

“With the AN/PRC-117G, Marines on the move and their field commanders will have access to critical, real-time information to support the types of contingency operations they anticipate in the future,” said Brendan O’Connell, president, Tactical Communications, Harris Communication Systems. “This award is another step in helping the Marine Corps expand the application of wideband tactical networking.”

Harris Corporation’s full product range of tactical radio systems are used extensively by the US. Military and by allied forces.
