Barricaded Woman Taken Into Custody In Standoff With Roy Police

WEBER COUNTY, Utah, June 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — SWAT teams, police and fire responded to a mobile home park in Roy late Friday afternoon, where they say an armed woman barricaded herself inside her residence and before possibly before setting it ablaze.

The situation began at approximately 4:30 p.m. when authorities responded to reports of a woman brandishing a gun at the Monte Vista Mobile Home Park at 3800 S. 1900 West.

Roy City police officer Josh Taylor told Gephardt Daily the woman threatened a family member and a neighbor before barricading herself inside the residence.

Negotiators from the Ogden Metro SWAT team were trying to talk the woman into giving up when fire broke out inside the home.

Roy firefighters extinguished blaze and the woman was taken into custody.

It was unclear if the woman inside the mobile home as it burned. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and charges are pending.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown.
