SAN FRANCISCO, July 9 (UPI) — One week after she was fired from Reddit, causing portions of the site to shutdown in protest, Victoria Taylor addressed her supporters on the website, saying she’s not sure what she’ll do next.

Taylor expressed her thanks to those who came to her defense after she was abruptly fired July 2.

“I’ll never forget my time at Reddit,” Taylor said Thursday in a Reddit post. You allowed me to be a part of some of the greatest conversations of our time, and it was an honor to be your ambassador.

“I just want to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who have reached out.”

Taylor was the company’s chief facilitator of the wildly popular “Ask Me Anything” pages (AMAs). Moderators had said they will not be able to coordinate AMAs anymore since Taylor was the point person for contact with politicians, celebrities and other popular figures who participated in the online question and answer sessions.

In response, many of the moderators — who are volunteers — made their profiles private and shut down the pages they moderated.

As for what Taylor will do next career-wise, she said she wasn’t sure.

“I know many of you may be curious about what’s next for me, and I’m still figuring that out. However, I can assure you, wherever the road leads, I will live up to the faith you’ve had in me,” she said.

The backlash Reddit received after Taylor’s dismissal prompted the company’s CEO, Ellen Pao, to apologize to users and moderators, promising changes and more open communication in the future.

“We screwed up,” Pao said in a Reddit post. “Not just on July 2, but also over the past several years. We haven’t communicated well, and we have surprised moderators and the community with big changes.

“I know we’ve drifted out of touch with the community as we’ve grown and added more people, and we want to connect more. I and the team are committed to talking more often with the community, starting now,” she added.
