Adrian Peterson’s Reinstatement Effective Friday

AdrianMINNEAPOLIS, April 16 (UPI) — Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson will be fully reinstated Friday and be able to participate in all National Football League meetings, practices and games.

“Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings was advised today that effective tomorrow he is reinstated as an active NFL player and may participate in all scheduled activities with the Vikings,” the NFL said in a statement. “In a letter from Commissioner Roger Goodell, Peterson was informed that he is expected to fulfill his remaining obligations to the authorities in Minnesota and Texas, as well as the additional commitments Peterson made during his April 7 meeting with the commissioner regarding maintaining an ongoing program of counseling and treatment as recommended by medical advisors.”

Peterson was suspended after he pleaded no contest to child abuse charges after he struck his child with a switch or tree branch as a form of discipline.

He was suspended without pay in November 2014.

There has been no public statement on whether the Vikings will keep him on the team or attempt to trade him. It is also unclear whether he will attend off-season practice ahead of the draft.
