MUNCIE, Ind., Aug. 21 (UPI) — A freshman at Indiana’s Ball State University was chosen at random to attempt a half-court basketball shot to win free tuition — and he succeeded.

Lem Turner, a freshman from Vernon Hills, Ill., was chosen at random Thursday night to attempt the half-court shot at Worthen Arena for the chance to win free tuition for a semester.

A video of the shot, posted to YouTube by Ball State University’s official account, shows Turner sink the nothing-but-net shot and celebrate by running around the basketball court embracing faculty members and the school’s mascot.

“Welcome Week got even brighter for one Ball State freshman. After being selected at random to participate, the young man sank a half-court shot, winning his tuition paid for a semester. Congratulations to him and the rest of the Class of 2019!” the video’s description reads.
