NHL Draft party

Fans can celebrate and witness Utah’s inclusion in the NHL Draft for the first time at a free party Friday, June 28, at the Delta Center. Doors open at 4 p.m., with live coverage of the NHL Draft beginning at 5 p.m. on the arena’s video board.

Utah has 13 picks in the 2024 NHL Draft — the most of any team in the league — as the former Arizona Coyotes prepare for their first season in the Beehive State.

Utah holds the No. 6 pick in the first round, three picks each in the second (Nos. 38, 49 and 65) and third (Nos. 71, 89 and 96) rounds, and six picks in the later rounds.

Utah Hockey Club gear will be available at the team store at the party, which also will feature player appearances, on-ice photo ops, a paint-your-own-puck station, face painting, prizes and giveaways, and other family-friendly games and activities.

Parking directly across from the Delta Center at Park Place will be free. Attendees should enter the arena through Door 5 and be aware that the no-bag policy will be in effect.

Prospect development camp

The Utah Hockey Club’s inaugural prospect development camp will take place July 1-5, with on-ice sessions starting July 1 at Park City Ice Arena.

A free scrimmage at the Delta Center on July 5 will cap the week’s events designed to provide Utah prospects with NHL coaching and instruction during on- and off-ice workout sessions.

Former first-round draft picks Conor Geekie (2022), Maveric Lamoureux (2022), Dmitriy Simashev (2023) and Daniil But (2023) are expected to attend the camp and participate in the scrimmage, along with forwards Sam Lipkin, Noel Nordh and Julian Lutz. Defensemen Maksymilian Szuber and Artyom Duda and goaltender Michael Hrabal also are scheduled to participate.

The full roster for the camp will be released following the 2024 NHL Draft.

On-ice sessions are scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, July 1, and Tuesday, July 2.

Players will participate in a four-on-four scrimmage at 1 p.m. Friday, July 5, at the Delta Center. The scrimmage will simulate a mock game and will include three-on-three play and a postgame shootout.

Preseason schedule

Utah’s preseason schedule features seven games, including one at the Delta Center and one at the Maverik Center.

The team’s preseason schedule begins Sunday, Sept. 22, vs. the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.

Utah will play its first-ever home preseason game at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, against the Los Angeles Kings. The game replaces the Frozen Fury matchup between the Kings and Vegas Golden Knights, which was scheduled before Utah secured an NHL franchise.

Refunds for the Frozen Fury game will be issued to ticket buyers at the original point of purchase, and the replacement preseason game against the Kings will be part of Utah Hockey Club season ticket member packages.

Those who purchased Frozen Fury tickets also will have an opportunity to purchase a limited amount of tickets to the Sept. 23 preseason game before remaining tickets are made available to the general public.

Utah will close out the preseason at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, vs. the Colorado Avalanche at the Maverik Center, due to a prior commitment at the Delta Center.
