CEDAR CITY, Utah, Aug. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Former Southern Utah wide receiver Isaiah Wooden is getting another chance to live his NFL dream with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Wooden spent time this offseason with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent but was waived July 30.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound rookie receiver signed with the Chargers on Thursday, the team announced. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Wooden played two seasons at SUU after transferring from Kent State.
In his two years with the Thunderbirds, the San Diego, California, native totaled 100 receptions for 1,726 yards (17.3 yards per catch) and 20 touchdowns.
He ranked No. 2 in 2023 among all FCS players with 14 TD catches while adding 904 receiving yards on 61 receptions to earn All-United Athletic Conference First Team honors.
Wooden, who prepped at Helix High in La Mesa, California, will wear No. 83 for the Chargers.
